    Clients Visualize Spaces Before Renovating

Having been in the interior design industry for more than a decade, seeing the changes in technology (particularly recent ones) has always been eye-opening. When it comes to AR and VR changes in the space, the biggest changes I have seen, and will continue to see, are in helping clients visualize spaces before they're built or styled before they even start renovating. For example, tools like Autodesk Live, Roomstyler, or Enscape are all game-changers in this space. If you have a client that is hesitant about making changes, tools like these will make it easier for clients to feel confident in their choices.

However, with technology continuing to change and grow, I think VR will take this a step further. Instead of just seeing a mock-up of a space on a screen, clients will be able to step into a fully immersive mock-up of their space. This will mean they can see exactly how a couch might look in their room or how light will hit that one paint color on the wall - all before even committing to the design.

All in all, I think we will see some exciting changes come in the next 10 years.

    Immersive Virtual Spaces Enhance Decision-Making

Virtual and augmented reality will redefine commercial architecture by bridging the gap between vision and experience. Clients will no longer rely solely on 2D blueprints or renderings—they'll walk through immersive virtual spaces that bring designs to life before construction even begins. This technology will enhance decision-making, enabling stakeholders to make adjustments in real time, reducing costly revisions down the line.

In our design process, I envision VR and AR creating a collaborative environment where clients can interact with materials, lighting, and layouts in a lifelike setting. It transforms the client experience into something engaging and memorable, fostering confidence and stronger relationships. These tools will not only streamline workflows but also ensure designs resonate deeply with those they're intended for.

VR Provides Early Stage Virtual Walkthroughs

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality have made advancements to transform commercial architecture by enhancing the design process and improving client interactions. Their role in immersive visualization is key to helping architects and clients experience physical spaces interactively and engagingly. This helps go beyond the limitations of traditional design methods and promotes a profound understanding of spatial relationships.

Talking about my design approach, I implemented VR to provide virtual walkthroughs of architectural designs at an early stage. This helps clients and stakeholders to have a 3D experience before starting construction. These immersive experiences help them provide intuitive feedback for design elements.

Furthermore, AR enhances onsite construction by overlaying digital models onto physical spaces. Real-time visual feedback helps minimize errors and reduce costly revisions.

The integration of VR and AR can provide a sustainable way of architecture.
